Permits required for:
  • Building and roofing permits required for all work except routine maintenance valued at less than $500.00
  • All electrical work
  • All mechanical work
  • All plumbing work

  • Permit applications are available at the Building Department. Contractors submitting an application must also provide a copy of their applicable State and County Occupational Licenses along with a Certificate of Insurance naming Bal Harbour Village as the certificate holder. If plans are applicable for the job, two (2) sets of signed and sealed plans must be submitted along with the application.
    Any work that commences without a permit, when a permit is required, will be stopped and a fine ($100 plus double permit fee) will be imposed.

  • 1% of the job cost
    ($100.00 minimum)
  • Plan review: 50% of permit fee.
  • Dade County Code Compliance Fee
    (.60 cents per $1,000 of cost)

  • Re-Inspections $35.00
    Working hours in Bal Harbour are from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, excluding national holidays. No work is allowed on Sundays.

    Should you have trash items other than vegetation, please contact the Public Works/Maintenance Department to schedule a pick up.

    Bulk items such as furniture and mattresses should be placed curbside the night before a morning scheduled pick-up.  Please note that the disposal of cardboard boxes, appliances, construction debris, and yard clippings is the responsibility of the homeowner, and these items will not be removed by Public Works personnel.

    Emergency Maintenance
    There is a Public Works employee on duty on weekends and some holidays from 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Please contact the Police Department in order to contact the after hours Public Works. (305) 866-5000




    Construction debris is prohibited by ordinance and should be disposed of appropriately.

    BURGLAR ALARM USER CERTIFICATES
    In addition to obtaining a permit for the installation of a burglar alarm at a residence/business in Bal Harbour, your alarm must be registered with the Village.
    Alarm User Certificates
    Fee: $25.00
    Certificate expires: October 31st of each year
    Renewal fee: $20.00 per year

    Penalties
    There is a penalty of $10.00 per day for each day an Alarm System is operated without a valid Alarm User Certificate.

    LOCAL BUSINESS TAX RECEIPTS
    All businesses operating in Bal Harbour must first obtain a Local Business Tax Receipt Application from the Village in order to do so. Applications for Local Business Tax Receipts may be obtained from the Village Clerk. All Local Business Tax Receipts expire on September 30th of each year.


    WATER BILLS
    Village water bills are mailed out the 1st of every month.
